Merry Christmas 2013

Merry Merry Christmas! It's been quite a lovely few days for us all. Nice and relaxing and full of happiness and love.

This picture was after church on Christmas Sunday. The girls had changed already so it was just the 3 younger kiddos and I who got a picture. As a side note...on Sunday we pull into the parking lot at church and get out of the car, only to realize that Kosette had thrown up all over herself in her car seat. It was lovely. So Kody and the other kids headed into Sacrament meeting while I spent about 15 minutes in the bathroom with Kosette cleaning her and her dress up. That was one of those times I wish we lived 5 minutes away from the church instead of 20. But oh well. Thanks to soap and water and an extra blanket we made it through church without totally stinking up the place. And she was back to her jolly little self in no time. Just a bad breakfast for her I guess. But still as cute as ever!

For Christmas Eve, we spent the day at home watching movies and playing. Kody and Kamille were out in the shop most of the day building a present for the other kids (more on that to come). Then that night we made a Gingerbread house. Usually we do it earlier in the month, but it was a nice Christmas Eve activity.

It actually ended up being a gram cracker barn and farm tractor. Because ya know, that is totally appropriate for us!

Then we watched a nativity movie and called it a night. It was nice ending on a calm, peaceful feeling. The kids headed to bed at about 9pm and Kody and I followed a couple hours later after setting everything up. We were on the ball this year with wrapping and everything. It was nice going to bed before midnight rather then staying up til 2 or 3am.

And we DID NOT get up at 2 or 3 am lie Kody did growing up. We were laying in bed at 7:30am and I said "We should just make it a rule that we don't do anything before 8am on Christmas morning." He agreed.

This is how we blocked the hallway so the kids couldn't come out. It was my idea. And a pretty good one too!
If you can't tell, it's our dining table!

And here's what the living room looked like before all the fun began

The one big gift we got the kids was their bikes. We scored a great deal on them on Black Friday. And they'll be put to great use for years to come!

The little monkey bucks was being silly!

Ready for all the fun!!

They had NO IDEA at all they were getting bikes. So when they came out and saw them they were stoked! Here's their reaction!

Ready to Ride!

Stockings were fun! It's neat how excited they get over simple things like cereal or socks! Of course since we stopped eating cereal a couple months ago, to get sugary cereal was indeed exciting!

After stocking we did breakfast. It was a cinch this year because we had cereal. Usually we do a big breakfast, but Kody's bright idea was to have cereal. It was kind of nice not being in the kitchen for hours and the kids were sure excited since we haven't had it in a long time. But cereal doesn't really fill you up and we realized we don't miss eating it. So it will probably be a big breakfast next year.

After breakfast (which lasted about 15 minutes) we headed for the wrapped gifts. Thanks in part to grandparents and Christmas Buddy's we had plenty of stuff to open.

On her own, Kamille put gifts together for each of us. Complete with nice pop-up Christmas cards. She's pretty thoughtful like that!

Kamille gave Jefferson a little stuffed hippo. Listening to him say it is so funny!

Kayda really needed a new coat and we found this super cute one at Costco. I told Kody if they made it in my size I'd want one too!

Another thing we stopped eating a while ago was Top-Ramen. So when Jameson opened a package up he was a happy little boy!

Kody got a new hair cutting set (but I'm the one who gets to use it. Hehe!) And might I add he looks GOOD in his facial hair!! He did have a beard for a couple weeks but shaved it down a bit. This probably won't last much longer either because he's not a big fan of facial hair, but he did it for me cause he know's I like it. What a guy!

Both the girls got some new clothes. Thanks to Value Village! (I love second hand shopping!)

And this is where the cats spend a lot of their time. I wonder what they'll do when the tree is not around....

Kamille got some new Play-Doh, which she LOVED

Both the boys got a couple of new action figures. They've been SO into them lately and play super hero's All. The. Time.

The little babes is such a darlin'!

After gifts and cleaning up a bit we headed outside to ride bikes. Kosette enjoyed watching every one ride up and down the road.

A beautiful white Christmas! According to the locals, we usually have at least a foot of snow on the ground by this time of year. But so far we've only had about 3 inches. We don't mind.

Total, we rode about 2 miles. Of course that's just gong to the end of our street and back.

The kids LOVE their bikes! And it'll be so fun for all of us to do bikes rides together!

Several weeks ago Kody brought home a big pallet from the farm. Kamille had a great idea to use it to build a play house for the other kids for Christmas. Kody thought it was a great idea too and was about as excited to build it as Kamille. Of course with Kody building it, it turned into a miniature cabin, and not just a "play house." It's nice to know we'll have an emergency shelter to live in if we ever need to! That's my man for ya!

A lot of the wood for the play house is from the inside of the farm house (since Kody's in the process of remolding it right now).

They didn't quite finish by Christmas morning, but they'll finish soon. And in the Spring when it's a little warmer we'll paint it. And then we'll put it out in a grove of trees when we move to the farm. And the kids can ride their bike out to it and play. It'll be neat!

Here's a video of the kids seeing the play house

We enjoyed lots of candy and sweets during the day and then our traditional Christmas dinner of homemade lasagna, bread, salad, and fruit salad. It was tasty!

We are so thankful for Christmas this year. What a year it has been! We're so glad to have our little happy family in our happy little house living in this very happy place that we LOVE!

Merry Christmas!
