California!!

Get ready for a big ol' long post with lots of pictures!

So we finally got back from our trip to California. It was so great! We left early on a Tuesday morning and drove to Sacramento. We were only going to drive to Mt. Shasta and camp, but we made such good time that we went on a few more hours. We camped at a KOA. The same one we stayed at a few years ago when we were on our way to the Redwoods. Along the road we saw a sign that said "Collier Logging Museum." So of course we had to stop. It was a nice little break. We didn't go to the museum, but we sure liked seeing the HUGE logging trailer. This was in Oregon and of course it was beautiful!

The kids had fun playing around at the KOA and we all got some mosquito bites. Great. We got up the next morning and drove to Carlsbad and stayed the night with my cousin. We got to see Marmie and Uncle Casey first and the kids were so excited!

The next day we headed over to the hotel in La Mesa, which is were we were for the next 6 days. The official family reunion started that evening at a nice park. It was great to see cousins and Aunts and Uncles that I (we) haven't seen in years!

That next day we met at the park again for the annual business meeting. Kody and I were lucky enough to be in charge of games for the kids. We actually had a lot of fun. We did kickball, Tug-O-War, water balloons, 3 legged races, and freeze tag on the playground. We also enjoyed lunch at the park. Then it was time to go over to Mormon Battalion. That was actually pretty neat. I learned a lot about the Battalion that went to fight (that never actually fought). It was a lot of fun. We got to pan mine for gold and do some other hands on activities.

That evening we went to a church building for a family talent show and dinner. We had some great talents performed. From our family Kamille sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," I sang the spin off from Taylor Swift called "A More Real Love Story" and Kody did the "Toast" song. OK, mine and Kody's were more fun talents. But everyone who did something did a great job. If I can figure out how to get the videos of the songs posted, I'll do that. For some reason lately I haven't been able to post videos. Hopefully I'll figure it out. And Kudos to my sister Jennifer and brother-in-law Ryan for coming up with some......interesting (I guess you could call them) and fun and funny games.

The next day we got to spend the day at the Beach. It was beautiful!! Lots and lots of fun, with lots and lots of sand. Kody enjoyed boogie boarding. My brother and cousin tried surfing......with tried being the key word! :) Jefferson and Kayda loved digging in the sand, and we all just had a great time!!!

We enjoyed a nice devotional and testimony meeting the nex day in the conference room at the hotel. And got a few pictures before everyone departed their own ways.

The next day we went to the San Diego Zoo. It was beautiful!!! The grounds are so gorgeous!! Worth the price of admission just to see the layout and grounds! The kids had a great time!

After California we decided to drive over to Arizona and see Kody's family at the farm. We were not planning on going over to AZ, but figured we were that close (kind of) so we did it. I'm really glad that we did. We had a great time at the farm even though we were only there for a short time. Within 20 minutes of getting out of the truck, Kody was already on the tractor digging a water line. He had a great time! We all did. We misplaced our camera while we were there and so we didn't get any pictures. I'm such a spaz. Totally a bummer. We also celebrated Kody's 30th birthday! We had a last minute little party for him and we were able to see some of Kody's dear friends. I heard a quote that says "If it weren't for last minute things, nothing would ever get done." Boy, that's the truth! It really was wonderful to be at the farm again. It really is a dear place. We sure hope to make it back to that type of lifestyle sooner rather then later.

When we left we drove to Utah and stayed with Kody's sister Shayna and her husband Chris. It was so great to see them and there sweet new little baby Trace! He really is a total stud, so cute, name and all! We enjoyed the beauty of Wallsburg and Provo Canyon and then headed home. We got back and found everything in order. The gal who filled in for us with the Storage Units did a great job, and everything went so well!

So all in all in was a WONDERFAUL trip. We're so thankful that we were able to go. A HUGE thanks to my dad for all he did for us. Love you tons Dad!

Well check back soon. Hopefully I'll post again sooner rather then later!
