1/2 the Fam Gone

Oh what a month it's been! I've wanted to write for a while, but just haven't. Don't you love how life comes at you in the ways you don't expect at all?

I came across this video online. It is so great! I love this sweet couple. We can all take a lesson from them! This made me smile and laugh! You probably will too!

Ok, so back to life. For a while now ( almost 2 years) we've been really looking for a way to get back to country living and farming. That is the kind of lifestyle we want. So Kody has applied for different farming type jobs around here, in Oregon, up near Seattle. And although he's had interviews and received contacts back, it just quite hasn't worked out like we've hoped or wanted it to. And even though we would love to have our own land, it's going to take way too much time and money to do that. So we had an opportunity come up that we are so thankful for. And we've decided to act on it.

Kody parents have a farm in Arizona, the same one Kody grew up on, and it's just a lot for the two of them to take care of. And so we have this opportunity for Kody to work the farm. All of the land is not being utilized like it could, and Kody's got the motivation, drive, and skills necessary to make it a great running and working farm. And most importantly have the lifestyle we want. A place to have animals, large gardens, tools, equipment, shops, barns, and the whole world out our front door for our kids. We are SO EXCITED for this chance and hope that it can work out!

So about 4 weeks ago we decided that Kody would go to Arizona and start working on the farm, because there is a lot to be done. Organizing, cleaning, fixing tractors, tools, etc., etc., etc. He would be down there for 10-12 weeks working things out. Then he would come back here for the winter and do some work that's been planned for a while, and then we would move to Arizona in the Spring. So he did. Kody left 2 weeks ago with a large moving truck full of stuff (things that we don't need in the immediate future like tools, camping gear, tools, shop stuff, tools, baby clothes, tools, work bench's, tools, etc.). Yes, I know, we have a lot of stuff. And he'll be down there until mid to end November. And knowing that I would probably not be able to handle 4 kids by myself, running the storage units, homeschool and everything else, he took Kayda and Jameson with him. And they are having a total ball! I mean how can you not have fun with 9 cousins all being age 8 or younger and a farm? Hello?? That has FUN written all over it!

So alas, it is just the two bookends and I. And we're doing good. Kamille has started soccer and MCP (the homeschool group) and loves it, and Jefferson takes long naps, plays in the dirt, and tries to tackle the cat, so he's having a blast. We do miss the other half of the family though. Especially Kamille. Her favorite buddy Kayda is not here to play with, but we're hanging in there.

Thank heavens for cell phones and Skype. We get to chat every day, sometimes a few times a day. So this is the plan for our family, as of right now. We'll be together again in November, spend our last winter in Washington, and head to the farm in the Spring (April or May). And although it is a very bitter/sweet feeling leaving Washington, because WE LOVE THE BEAUTY. Don't get me wrong, AZ has beauty of it's own, but not like WA. I can't describe the beauty of the Northwest, it just brings a smile to my heart. Anyway, even though we will miss it hear, we are very excited that we will be back in our element in the country. It's definitely the place to be!

Country, here we come!!
